Sibyl is a Los Angeles based Set Designer. Her interests span design for live performance, installations, and museum exhibitions to design for mental health care initiatives. Her foundation as a theatrical set designer led Sibyl to co-author the book Scene Shift: U.S. Set Designers in Conversation with scenographer Maureen Weiss, published in August of 2023. The conversations continue with Scene Shift: The Exhibit in 2024 and the launch of Scene Shift: The Podcast in May 2025.
Sibyl has designed for theatrical stages locally and across the country, from A.R.T. to ACT, including Arena Stage, MCC, Theatre for a New Audience, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Lookingglass Theatre Company, Seattle Repertory, Portland Center Stage, and Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. In the Los Angeles area, she has designed at CTG, the Geffen Playhouse, South Coast Repertory, The Industry LA, Circle X, A Noise Within, The Actors’ Gang and many more. Unique projects have included art installations in SoCal art galleries and museums, such as Sacrifice Zone: LA at the Natural History Museum of LA County and Scene Shift: The Exhibit at the Fisher Museum of Art. Sibyl teaches set design as an associate professor in the USC School of Dramatic Arts. At USC, she was a 2x grantee of the USC Arts in Action program collaborating with Open Paths Counseling Center, Iovine & Young Academy, and Ottonomy.io. The collaboration titled Peace Pods inspired students across disciplines to design and build flexible ‘pods’ for reflection and self-care. Open Paths Counseling Center has been using two of the Peace Pods at their clinic in Inglewood, CA since 2023.
Aside from teaching at USC, Sibyl has been attending the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space since 2011. She has led workshops and presentations, with Janne Larsen, Shana Cooper, and Maureen Weiss and participated as a panelist in several presentations. It is one Sibyl’s favorite places to be.
